K.O.R.E. is a reminder to remember the very core of GOD’s heart…
John 3:16-17 NIV
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
K. represents KING of kings
O. represents Orphans, Outcasts, Oppressed, OHI (other health impaired), Overwhelmed, and Overcomers
R. represents Reach
E. represents Evangelism… Engaging… Equipping… Encouraging… Establishing… Empowering… Enriching… Envisioning… Exploring… Entrusting… Enduring… Everlasting…
K.O.R.E. has its origins as a family ministry supporting pastors caring for orphans in India starting in 2004 and still ongoing. Then in December of 2018, I began thinking of starting a church at home due to my wife having had TIA’s (mini strokes) that has kept her from attending church for health reasons. GOD’s calling on my life is that of a pastor. Then most recently, through my prayers, time in the Word, and blogging while meeting many others in need online I ultimately decided to launch K.O.R.E. ministry to reach more people who are not attending any church due to a variety of reasons and also for those needing support and encouragement who do attend a church… I also attend church in a traditional setting and serve in children’s ministry.
KING of kings
Let’s look at the inspiration for the K in K.O.R.E. that was inspired from Heaven above and into my heart for certain and resonates within deep meaning, influence, and purpose:
REVELATION 19:16
On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
JESUS, here represented as KING of kings, is inspiration in and of itself.
GOD is also known as the KING of kings when looking at the following passage:
1 TIMOTHY 6:11-16
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time–God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.
GOD is the KING of kings and from this passage is inspiration for how to live and to whom I live for…
To know more about what’s also in the core of GOD’s heart, let’s look at David:
ACTS 13:22
After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’
David is known as a man after GOD’s own heart and made king. Was he perfect? No, he made many grievous mistakes. Yet, he turned to GOD each time for mercy and forgiveness in repentance. GOD is the KING of kings and a dynamic relationship with David the king is established. This inspires me to have a heart after GOD’s own heart as well…
Orphan
Let’s look deeper into the O. in K.O.R.E. through King David’s interaction with his best friend’s son who became an orphan:
2 SAMUEL 4:4
(Jonathan son of Saul had a son who was lame in both feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but as she hurried to leave, he fell and became disabled. His name was Mephibosheth.)
How does a disabled little boy become a part of the inspiration? Let’s take a more focused look into GOD’s heart…
2 SAMUEL 9
DAVID AND MEPHIBOSHETH
David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba. They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
“At your service,” he replied.
The king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?”
Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.”
“Where is he?” the king asked.
Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.
When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.
David said, “Mephibosheth!”
“At your service,” he replied.
“Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.”
Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?”
Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)
Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s table like one of the king’s sons.
Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth. And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet.
David, a man after GOD’s own heart, accepts his best friend Johnathan’s son who happens to be an orphan at the time and crippled allowing him to receive a place of honor and a place of provision to always sit at the king’s table. This highlights GOD’s own heart for the least of these. So, a primary focus should be prioritized to care for the orphan and disabled. This epitomizes what unconditional and unselfish love is…
I was once a disabled little boy. Disabled with fear and anxiety and anger inside. Later as a youth, I succumbed to lust of the world. Then I invited JESUS into my life. For a time, my self-esteem was better and I could socialize somewhat. However, I went away to the University and lust of the world crept in again. It was gradual and then I began not eating well trying to manage my loneliness lacking social skills that soon led to despair and torment that I was going to end up in hell without hope. I became suicidal and attempted to end it all, but GOD had other plans. I then dealt with traumatic mental illness and spiritual panic attacks on and off into adulthood. Yet GOD intervened often with HIS great mercy and compassion to deliver me from my fears with HIS perfect love over time… I am only here now because of HIS great loving-kindness and enduring mercy HE has shown me… HE is my inspiration…
What if you realize that GOD the FATHER looks with hope and desire for you and says “is there anyone still left that I may show kindness for my SON JESUS’ sake? Like Johnathan who died and left behind his son, JESUS, GOD’s One and only begotten SON, died as well, but HIS death doesn’t leave you as an orphan… For GOD did not leave behind HIS SON as abandoned for long or too soon forgotten after he endured the pain of being spit at, mocked, beaten with lashes to his back ripping at his flesh, crown of thorns gouging into HIS head, and nails piercing through HIS hands and feet to a cross shedding HIS blood to save us. HE raised HIM back to life… GOD the FATHER draws you in by HIS Holy Spirit to receive the gift of salvation by grace through faith in JESUS to forgive your sins and give you new life… It’s up to you now as JESUS knocks on the door of your heart to let HIM in… You’ll never be a spiritual orphan again if you do…
Who is left for JESUS sake? The whole world is… including you…
ROMANS 10:8-13
But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
PSALM 68:5-6
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.
God sets the lonely in families,
he leads out the prisoners with singing;
but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
I was once a spiritual orphan. GOD pursued me. I came to know JESUS’ love and forgiveness accepting HIM into my heart what HE did for me on the cross and the hope of HIS risen life… This resulted in me being adopted into GOD’s family. I was once lonely and HE has also given me a family in my wife and children who love me and I in turn love them…
So the original inspiration for the O. in K.O.R.E. was Orphans because GOD was leading our family into a ministry outreach to orphans in India that’s been ongoing since 2004…
Mephibosheth was an orphan, but he must have also experienced feelings of being
an Outcast, Oppressed, OHI (other health impaired), Overwhelmed, and finally an Overcomer
and it all changed and turned around for him all because of the acceptance, invitation, and perfect love shown by the king. JESUS, the KING of kings, treats us the same…
In starting K.O.R.E. ministry, my heart opened to providing for the needs of those that: also feel like an outcast, deal with oppression, have other health impairments, feel overwhelmed, and desire to be overcomers… but don’t feel accepted, invited, nor shown love in a traditional church setting. As a special ed. teacher, I have taught outcasts who aren’t accepted by other students, taught those oppressed with mental/emotional/behavioral problems, taught those with OHI (other health impairments) that prevent them from doing things as easily, and I’ve accepted, invited, and showed love to motivate and encourage each one to become overcomers…
Reach
Let’s look at the R in K.O.R.E. and learn from JESUS’ interactions with others.
JESUS, with HIS earthly ministry, would have compassion on people by forgiving sins, healing various ailments, delivering from oppression, talking with outcasts, and leading them into being overcomers… HE reached out to those that others wouldn’t and ministered to their greatest needs…
Evangelism… Engaging… Equipping… Encouraging… Establishing… Empowering… Enriching… Envisioning… Exploring… Entrusting… Enduring… Everlasting…
Let’s look at the E in K.O.R.E. and learn that this becomes our response and responsibility as we abide in JESUS, learn from HIM, walk with HIM, and write/speak HIS Words to others in their times of need, in their times of learning from HIM, in their walking with HIM, and reading/listening to HIS Words… These E’s are ongoing responses leading to outcomes/results of how we grow from being in HIM, spending time with HIM, following HIM, and sharing about HIM…
